Returning this jukebox to its owner
even made the front page of the Westmeath Independent .....
 |
This was a project that took some time, 5
years in fact. It was shipped to us by it's owner from Ireland in an
extremely bad state and progressed very slowly, moving house with us 3
times! It was returned to Ireland in May 2006.
We decided to return the jukebox personally, but even this didn't ensure a
hitch-free delivery, Jacqui managed to break the carousel back-glass on a
tiled floor and a replacement had to be found - good old B&Q!
Below are a selection of photographs which show the transformation from the
start to the finished item, returned to its home in the Genoa Cafe in
Athlone.

Rock-Ola 1448

|
This Rock-Ola is a relatively recent
purchase. It had a couple of minor faults which have been problematic.
We have replaced some key components and now it behaves itself a little more
regularly. We have it home at the moment playing it as much as
possible to make sure all the faults have been ironed out.
If you would like to see this one in
action, it will be available for public play at
Norton Park - Dartmouth from Easter
2007.

Ami Continental II

|
Our current project. It has been
stripped down to the bare cabinet, the chrome has been sent away and the
clean up and rewire job has just started. As you can see from the
photos it was in a very poor state but we're confident that over the next
few months it will be completely transformed.
Watch this space to keep up with our
progress.

A unusual wall mounted jukebox of
German origin. This is an ongoing refurbishment for a client.
The biggest problem so far has been sourcing parts, but we were lucky enough
to get a job-lot of 4 non-runners which are being stripped down for their
parts.
This is an interesting one and is
proving to be a challenge, especially the steep learning curve of working on
a jukebox for the first time.
